Villa Zito takes name from
The Villa was built as a country house by Gaspare Scicli in the first half of the eighteenth century; not long after Antonio La Grua, the princes of Carini, acquired the building.
Fondazione Sicilia acquired Villa Zito in December 2005 and restored it with a work by the architect Corrado Anselmi.The exhibition area houses a remarkable Collection of paintings and a selection of graphic works.
Pinacoteca
The collection of the Sicily Foundation consists of over a thousand works and is essentially made up of the pictorial heritage that the Banco di Sicilia acquired on the antiquarian market in the last century. Ignazio Mormino and Carlo Bazan, presidents of the Banco di Sicilia, pursued a policy aimed at supporting culture and acquiring works of art linked to the Sicilian territory so as some paintings come from the collections of the Cassa di Risparmio Vittorio Emanuele for the Sicilian Provinces and others, finally, from private donations.
The Paintings Collection is divided into three main parts: Ancient Painting with the main characters of Baroque style; the 1800s, with the landscape’s topic in the wake of Grand Tour voyagers; the 1900s, deepening a cultural overview of that age, with its conflicts and contradictions.
Educational
Educational activities for school groups encourage the development of expressive and analytical skills, through an informal learning in close contact with the collections and the extraordinary heritage of art.

The Events Area offers a privileged place for the needs of companies that see “culture” as part of their communication strategies. The organization of events in stunning locations offers companies to combine the possibility of business meeting with the charm of a place of extraordinary artistic value.
Bookshop
“The collections of the Banco di Sicilia Foundation” is a series of six catalogues dedicated to the artistic masterpieces of our Foundation, published between 2009 and 2015 by Silvana Editoriale Spa Milano.
The title of the series, as well as that of each catalogue, still has the old name Fondazione Banco di Sicilia, because the publishing project began before 2012, when the Banco di Sicilia Foundation changed its name to the Sicily Foundation.
Cafeteria
In addition to the very suggestive atmosphere of the outside spaces, guests can enjoy the interior halls, with a refined and elegant décor inspired by the Fondazione’s paintings gallery.
